The link between collections and infraculture

Collaborative collections are a form sharing. As such they are infraculture.

To collect is also to practice the human skills of classifying, hierarchizing, and organizing, the results of which are drastically different than what is produced through mechanized and mechanizing databases, no matter how advanced. This is because mechanization is relationally distant from creative human learning engagement. There is a différance in how human-created process unfolds.

Shared collections can augment the knowledge of a group.
